Thought I'd post an update on my car now I've had it a month.

All in all, very happy :)

I had some problems from the start with MPG issues which were resolved, and now it's running great. I haven't worked out my MPG properly yet, but am happy with getting 80 miles to £10 and around 240 to £30! Not bad at all.

Speed wise, I can't complain, obviously it's no Turbo, but certainly no slouch neither, pulls great and does knock you back in your seat! One thing that does concern me is, with these cars, everyone gets warned of driving in the winter (rain on the roads) and their implications, I have quickly learnt how dangerous the car can be, first time I went round a small roundabout near my house and put the car into 2nd gear and "tested" the handling... some drifting occured which kinda gave me a heart attack, it was only a small loss of control but shook me a bit. Second time was just going round a small corner to get into Teeside Park, in third gear I accelerated and it lost it from the rear again, I was suprised by this. I know the tyres have grip but are a crap make which can easily be blamed but I am left extra cautious now in the rain, which I've never had to do in any other car. I'd be interested in Serj's opinion as he's just got a new 2.
Luckily both times they were small incidents, I never went over into the other side of the road etc. But I can see why these cars can be dangerous not driven well.

I've also had the roof off and didn't feel like a hair dresser, woop!

Anyway, I gave her a clean yesterday. Doesn't she polish up well??

What you think to these wheels? Just quick p'shop, not black, still have a bit of the colour of the car in them, I like it.

nice looking car, wheels look great darker.

glad to see you've had some small incidents to keep you aware.

I recently went to MM4 and it was raining. I kept up with the other cars just fine. :)

Just get the speed you want before the corner then keep your foot balanced. :)

Glad to hear it's going well. Get some decent tyres on the back ASAP. It will make all the difference and give you more confidence. However, it's good that you are learning about booting it round corners without any bad things happening.

MPG seems about right now, if not better than average.

Lovely looking car :D I wanted a MR2 but couldnt find a decent one for the same price i got the celica for :(

The MR2 is probably one of the most sensitive cars to tyre choice, especialy on the rear. Cheap and nasty tyres are virtualy a death sentence in wet/greasy conditions. Ditch them and fit the best tyres you can afford.

Your MR2 is exactly the same as my mates, same colour, etc. This car is a murder weapon in the wet. My mate has got Yoki's on his, and they are brilliant once warmed up as they get a bit sticky!

In the wet however they are very scary. With all that weight at the back end, plus a lot of power from the twin cam 16v engine, it gets messy very, very easily.

I have got some awesome videos we have done in his car through the summer. In the dry, around corners this car is phenomenal, it sticks well, the secret is to just keep your foot down and don't ease off. What did you do to sort out the MPG? These cars drink the fuel like there is no tomorrow, a 40 min blip can rinse £20 away easily....

Wow! thats one clean MR2, all the ones ive seen in that colour near me have different colour doors or wings etc :o Re the tyres, i think its probably the same for most MR cars, my MGF is also very sensitive to tyres.
