MS 365 plan upgrade

Think this is probably the best place to ask...

We currently have a number of MS Exchange Online Plan 1 and Id like to upgrade them to Business Standard which I believe comes with Exchange built in. Before I commit to buying them all I have 1 Business Standard Licence spare which I have assigned to a user and now they have Exchange Plan 1 and Business Standard. Can I just untick the Exchange licence for that user and their emails/Exchange features will remain unchanged and then cancel the Exchange plans moving forward?

That's right except they get the extra functions of Business Standard over Exchange Plan 1. They don't need Exchange Plan 1 if you assign a Business Standard licence to the account.

Thanks for the prompt response, I knew we would get the added features of the standard plan but I just didnt want to lose any emails etc.

You won't I just did exactly the same. You are just applying a licence that's all.
