MS-7184 (Microstar)

Have an old PC with the MicroStar MS-7184 mainboard and 2GB of ram which is what the PC came with. Now just installed Win 7 on it and noticed that it is showing only 1GB of memory so rebooted and went into the Bios and in there is shows 2 banks of 512mb so max being used is 1GB. Both sticks are the same and they came with the machine. I have reloaded defaults but still no joy.
Is there something that can be changed to get the machine to recognise the full 2GB?

I take it the ram is 4 X 512mb and is using all the slots. Maybe only two slots are working or two sticks are goosed. Take two out and see what happens and then swap over.

Hi mate, not they are 2x 1GB and tried them in different slots but the result is the same the BIOS only shows 512mb in each slot

Have a wee read of this article as I suspect your problem may be to do with the density of the ram.
