Has anyone had any experience of using this (aka SoftGrid)? Looks interesting but I'm struggling to see how it differs from XenApp (with the Isolation feature), any ideas?
If its the Softricity virtualisation, had a play with this from a software development point of view. but it turned out to long winded a process for what we wanted. Went to citrix/vmware solution since it worked better.
Was a good bit of tech and could see why M$ acquired Softricity.
Thats strange as I've found it pretty simple to get it up and running and office 2003/2007 are a pretty easy to get to work. They also have a recipe for 2007 up on their website.
One thing to note thou is that its only available for desktops as part of the Desktop Optimisation Pack but that makes it really really cheap. They also have a TS CAL for it which can be added and again this is stupidly cheap per user.
Was talking about this in another thread. I think it's a superb piece of software. The thing we're looking at is the isolation side where by we use legacy applications on new operating systems.
Not tested it at the moment. To use it you also have to be using Vista Enterprise and the Desktop Optomisation Pack (not sure if that's available for XP). Price wise it's absolutely nothing for what you get - certainly will report back when we've used it a bit more.
