MS Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 Middle-click?

I've just bought this mouse today as a bit of an impulse purchase...I was browsing a few stores and thought I could really replace my old Logitech MX500 which I've had for about four years now.

The mouse is awesome...you can really feel the difference with 1000 DPI, and the notch-less scrollwheel is nice, BUT, when you click the middle-button there is a noticeable delay of about half a second before it actually registers.

It is very annoying, especially in World in Conflict, which is pretty much the only game I'm playing online at the moment. Holding down the middle button enables mouselook, so its pretty essential.

I initially thought it was due to the IntelliPoint drivers so I uninstalled them, and although the wheel scrolling has drastically improved, the middle click delay still exists.

Does anyone know anything about this? I'm honestly thinking of returning it and getting a different one, any recommendations? (Preferably Microsoft.)

Cheers

I have that mouse (my old one) and there is a problem with the middle mouse click, i re-assigned the side button as my middle click.

Have no problems with the Habu now, even more sensitive to... :)

Ok, so I've reinstalled the IntelliPoint drivers and set the side button to the middle-click. It turns out I much prefer having my middle-click assigned to the side! Dunno why I didn't think of this before, cheers!

It's still annoying having a half-functioning mouse though, so I think I'm going to replace it regardless.

I think I might actually splash out on a proper keyboard and mouse, one that'll last me a long time. Does anyone have any experience with the MS Wireless Desktop 7000 and 8000's?

Cheers!

Using the MS Habu and Ergonomic 4000 here myself.... :)

Wireless does not cut it for gaming in my opinion.... that's just my preference though.... ;)

Seems that this is also a problem for the wireless mobile 3500 mouse on WinXP SP3. Middle-click is fine but middle-click and drag has a 1/2 second delay before it registers the movement.
