Hi.

Im doing an exchange cource in a few weeks time that my work are paying for (just cropped up out of no-where).

Is there any background reading/swotting that i should do before hand or will the course cover everything?

Aparentely it covers everything i need for a MCP in Exchange 2k8.

Thanks in advance all. :).

Which course is it, 5047A Introduction to Installing and Managing MS Exchange 2007? I did this earlier in the year, wouldn't have said it told you everything to get the basic MCTS cert in Exchange 2007 but it'll help a lot :)

I didn't really have any previous exchange experience (only went on the course as we got it free when I booked up something I actually wanted to go on) so a lot of it was all new to me anyway.

I didn't bother with the exam in the end as I'm not an exchange person, but my mate who has done all 3 of the 2007 exams said there's masses of questions on powershell, he reckoned around 2/3!

I am also doing this course in 3 weeks :) not too interested in the Exams, I am looking more for SQL/VB stuff, but I have Exchange and it is a week off work :)

Who you using BoomAM??

How much reading depends on how much you already know.
About Exchange? Nout. I know what it is, what it does and its feature set, but thats about it. :p.

I guess what im asking is: is it worth me reading more indepth things about common concepts that could be applicable to Exchange, like DNS, ect; Or should i be ok with my existing knowledge on setting them up? Things of that ilk really.

Not a clue, i didnt book it. :p

IMO a course is more useful if you already know a bit about the subject.

Maybe if you have some time, had a skim through some of the articles in msexchange.org There are some good basic ones taking you through the server roles, installation etc (lots of pics as well :))

I agree with that. I used that site quite a bit.
