I am having terrible trouble with the frame rate on this sim. I recently installed it on a new HDD which has nothing more than the OS which is Win 7 Ultimate 64bit so no antivirus to affect things.

I get 2FPS and that is even with all the settings on the lowest.

Any ideas??

You can see my system specs in the signature strip.

My 2.4Ghz C2D laptop can manage 10fps at reasonably high settings with things like Orbx and their detailed strips in the PNW. Not sat at Heathrow with 100% AI traffic on are you?

So you went from 2fps TO 50-70? Somehow I'm not totally convinced! Even those with the latest rigs would struggle to get a constant 50-70. The tool that I linked to recommends limiting frames using an external limiter.

Just wondering whether you use an external limiter and if it improved things? I'm trying to get my head around setting frames to unlimited within FSX but then using an external limiter to cap them! Have read that the FSX limiter is inefficient but wonder if it makes that much difference. I'm generally happy with performance from my i5 750 oc @ 3.8 but every little bit helps.

Well the frame rate seems fluid smooth now and i am not using an external limiter and have set the sim frame rate to unlimited so if the sim frame rate indicator is not accurate then fair enough.

So i am now happy with my sim and hope it keeps that way.
