How on earth do you turn it off???

For example, you click on an email, it comes up in the preview window then you click on another marking the previous as read... How do I change to to be either I have to actually open the email in a new window or mark it as unread?

This works on my copy of Outlook 2003.

Go to Tools > Options then the Other tab. Click on the Reading Pane button then uncheck the box at the top.

Thanks, the top one was unchecked, it was the second one down I had to uncheck

I thought it was on View - Reading Pane and then the choice of none, right or bottom?
