MS to buy logitech rumor

Great, when my Logitech Z5500 speakers and G15 keyboard go bang I'm going to get a Microsoft Z5500 and G15 back

Logitech have the worst RTM service and customer service around. Microsoft have a fantastic customer service, it would only improve it IMO.

Your drunk, I've had the best customer service in my life from logitech. When my 5400's died on a friday. On monday morning my replacement brand spanker 5500's arrived on my doorstep. They never even looked at or picked up the 5400's.

It took me no less than 7 phonecalls just to extend my warranty on my xbox with MS. The first 3 times they couldn't get their head around my console serial number or the fact I had two in the house. Everytime I read the number out they kept saying it wasn't the one they had registered.

2 more times the 'system' was down so they couldnt complete the payment.

1 time I put the phone down iun frustration and finally on the 7th time they managed to complete the simpliest of tasks.

It's fair to say my experience with the xbox on the whole has made me loathe Microsoft and their support. If I didnt love the games the developers had made for it I would melt both my xbox's into a ball with an blow torch and RMA it with a dirty disc error.

When I RMA'd my Z5500 I think I was waiting about 5 weeks.

My mate had a nightmare too. I can't remember what messed up for me, but after several calls I decided it would be easier to simply replace it. Was an utter nightmare.

Microsoft have always gone out of their way to help me in any way they can for many years.

Hah, I had that and took it back (and my mate did the same). Paid £60 for it the week it came out. What an utter disgrace it was as a mouse.

I have never had a problem with it in.....two years - seems like that anyway

Admittedly I dont game with it, so this might be why we have completely differing views, but its a really comfy mouse (esp considering I use it left handed)

I just couldn't click with it, it felt too cumbersome, big and didn't do me for comfort. I ended up getting a Logitech MX518 which has done me well (though I'd still rather have my old MS Intellimouse Explorer).

i love my mx1000 - lasted for a while before the button started not to click properly - mailed logitech with the serial and they sent me a brand new one. they req i cut off the usb plug off the old one and send that back in. nice and easy.

after that i bought one of their wifi keyboards - love it.

as far as the takeover goes, if it happens it will be bad for 1 simple reason. lack of competition. i had a MS mouse ages ago and i loved it. only downside was that there wasnt a charging dock so replacing batteries was a PITA. still have it somewhere in fact.

hope this falls through

If my Z5500 dies again I'll proberbly just make them give me a refund and pay for me the ship the set back as I cant be messing about waiting again.

Peronslly i think logitech suck bg time :) I have probably bought about 10~15 of the products over the past 5 years all.. 40% of them have broken including:

Blutooth Wireless Headphones fo MP3 - Snapped / Internal battery never holds a charge.
Logitech Harmony 785 remote - Randomly Died after 16 months and never turned on.
Mx510 Mouse - Feet came off and buttons got stucks.

Where as my 3 MS Explorers 3.0 are still going strong as are my 2 MS keyboards..

So if they can get MS reliabilty with Logitechs technology you might get a good thing. PS Logitechs technical support is rubbish... took me about 2 months to ge my remote replaced, where as MS replace things within a few days and without even neededing to send the old ones back.

MS even replaced a mouse of mine cus it was dirty, and got a bit sticky on the bottom.

I really hope this doesnt happen! The last thing i want is M$ to ruin Logitech products! Microsoft keyboards and mice are so bulky, cheap and crap! The thought of M$ getting thier mitts on the DiNovo is nightmare worthy! Another company sinks to the monopoly that is Microshaft.

My fingers are crossed that this doesnt happen!

imo.

more like £150 the cheapest I can find.

I've been using the M$ desktop 7000 for htpc use same design with a few features removed and so far its been great.

Aye tisn't cheap :( And admittedly that mouse charging dock just looks stupid when hooked on to the keyboard. But the keyboard on its own looks great me thinks, shame they won't release it seperately..

The MS peripherals ive used have been decent enough but every MS mouse ive had has died within six months of purchase. Had a couple of them swapped but even though i stressed on the phone i wanted a like for like replacement (being a lefty, i cant use their mice contoured for right handed use) both times i was supplied with a different mouse, and both were right handed mice and not the model id purchased. Once theyd supplied an unsuitable replcaement they werent interested in helping any further .

Sold both replacement MS mice on ebay, got a logitech and never went back to their brand.

You're most amusing. Because VolksWagon own Audi does that mean Audi cars are now cheap and cheerful machines that are good value for money rather than 4WD performance models?
