Hi,

Does anyone know how I create a link to a saved word file in any version of microsoft word so that if an alternate user is on the same server by simply clicking on the link say I emailed to them they would be able to open the file?

Please advise..

You could always email them the full UNC path to the doc but.....

1) You'd need to make sure that the UNC path includes a a shared folder
2) Make sure that they are a valid user on that server
3) Make sure they have permissions to access files/folders via that share
3) Ensure that they have the correct version of Word installed locally or save Word 2007 docs in Word 2003 format or have the Office 2007 document convertors installed if they aren't using Word 2007

so for example:
server = server01
share = sharedpath

UNC = \\server01\sharedpath\accounts\documents\doc1.doc
