Hi

is it just my machine or has anyone else experince ms word just closing without warning after updating to 10.4.10 on a intel macbook?

I've not had the time to play with it - I just wondering if its a known issue or should I start uninstall/reinstall/deleting stuff.

Thanks

Well it's running in Rosetta so it's going to be noticably slower.

Try Googling for known issues though :)

Is it doing it when you Right Click? If so try disabling the Microsoft AutoUpdate process running in the background, as i'm sure that's what fixed it for me (although I never properly checked, but MS Office was unusable until that stopped happening) :) Although that was on earlier builds of MS Office/Mac OS X...

Its just quits randomily quits, I've not had time to play with it yet. but the issue has only seemed to occur since updating to 10.4.10. but if no one else is having the issue - I'll start playing with it tonight.

You'd seriously be better off just using NeoOffice, especially if you have an intel Mac :)

I have this problem too, My (legit) copy of office 2004 doesn't seem to work on my amd apple or my friends macbook. :(

Google say's its problems with rosetta.

An AMD Apple? Don't see many of those to the pound!

I'm guessing you've all tried the usual tricks such as installing all updates, moving prefs/ Microsoft User Data sideways etc?

You didn't install the QuickTime 7.2 update did you? If so, it's a known problem.

Either download and re-apply the 10.4.10 combo updater or try the manual approach of updating prebidinging (boot into safe mode by holding down the shift key immediately after the startup sound, open Terminal, and enter 'sudo update_prebinding -root / -force -debug'. Do not start any programs while this is running. When done, hopefully with no errors, reboot again).
