MS Word: Greyed out formatting toolbar?

Hi,

I've been given a word document to fill in at work, but the formatting toolbar is completely greyed out when I open it. I can't find any reason for it, or any advice elsewhere on the net via Google.

Does anyone have any ideas?

You put a seed of doubt on my mind.....

When I asked my colleague, "Is the document protected?", I actually expected him to check and see if it was protected, rather than just answer negatively without looking.

His excuse was, "You should have told me what protected means." and this from a man who builds his own websites!

Lesson learnt: Never trust someone to perform simple checks.

No worries, sounds like a nice guy...

Although just because he can probably drag stuff around in frontpage doesn't mean much
