Hi all,
At work I am putting together a powerpoint presentation that contains a lot of photos.

I have been asked to transfer the slides into word, so I have been dragging and dropping slides.

However, when I click on 'compress' on powerpoint I can take the file down from 25mb to 7mb, however the same function on MS word does not work......and I am stuck with a 500mb file, which makes my work laptop poo itself.

No matter how I import an image, MS word's compression feature has no effect.

Anyone got any ideas?

EDIT: At home my office 2007 Word seems to do it OK. Is my best bet just taking my personal laptop to work tomorrow?

Create the document at home and transfer it to your work machine? [take your personal laptop just in case mind]
Not long ago a client had the same issue - they thought Word was compressing but it was just ignoring her! It magically corrected itself, never did find out how or why. Not terribly helpful I realise. You could try changing between docx/doc and see if it catches on.
