In Windows XP when you disable startup items with Msconfig where does it hide the registry entries it is disabling? In 98 and ME it used to put them in in a "-" folder, ie if you were disabling something from HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run it would put the disabled entries in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run- but XP seems to hide them somewhere else.

you should not disable things in msconfig as you will then be running in debug mode. Much better to use msconfig to locate what you don't want starting up and then deleting/disabling that entry from the registry
Sometimes they can be too hard to find and my only choice is to leave it disabled. But now I know where they go I can delete the entries
