Hi Guys I have iTunes installed for my Nephews iPod and just wondered if it's ok to disable it and Quicktime from starting at boot in Msconfig?

Reason I ask is I vaguely remember doing this before and had serious problems trying to get the iPod to sync and had to reinstall iTunes. Im not sure if this was related or not so wanted to run it past any iTunes users out there.

Thanks :)

That's what I was thinking :( iTunes is a horrible piece of software imo. Could I disable iTunes in Msconfig but leave Quicktime enabled? Don't want to have to reinstall it again but I have quite a few startup items going on right now :D

It works still if everything is disabled via msconfig. They are not needed to launch iTunes.

Happy days :) Have any of you guys ever looked to an iTunes alternative? My Nephew got an iPod touch for xmas (4th Gen) and I love the interface but absolutely hate iTunes. Only Apple could make a straight forward task complex. Maybe it's because I have only ever used MS software but iTunes has to be the most unintuitive piece of software I have ever used

Conflicting information here lads. BinnsY can you confirm you have iTunes and Quicktime disabled within Msconfig without any problems? That is you can boot your machine and Sync your iPod without any issues, even though you have disabled iTunes and Quicktime from the startup group in Msconfig?

Thanks for your input everyone. Much appreciated. Im going to disable iTunes and Quicktime in Msconfig right now. If it stops working, it's not my problem.... I tried to tell him to get an Archos... He wouldn't listen. I love Apple hardware... wish I could say the same for their software :D
