Having installed Vista Business via MSDNAA I noticed it only gave me the option to install 32bit and not 64bit.

Is this just because of the ISO image I have, or is it because of the licence key I received.

Thanks :)

The disk you downloaded only includes the 32-bit version of Vista.

I have heard of some people using the "order alternative media" website to buy a 64-bit DVD for £8 or so using the MSDNAA key. This seems slightly cheeky to me and I'm not sure if Microsoft intend it to be possible. Otherwise, for the moment you can only get the 32-bit version.

Theres two MSDN images to download, a 32bit and a 64bit version, sounds like you downloaded the 32bit. The licence key is the same for both.

Can you swap between 32bit and 64bit using the same key without any problems? Does the key take on the role of an retail key rather than an OEM?

Using my msdn subscription, ive been able to swap between the 32bit and 64bit versions using the same key. Basically my subscription gives me authority to use vista on 10 machines, so it doesnt matter if they are 32bit or 64bit.

The original poster specified that he had access only to MSDNAA (Academic Alliance). This only gives you a license for a single machine, and as far as I am aware only the 32-bit version of Vista Business is currently available.
