I was just wondering, my copy of XP is through my Uni's MSDN:AA thingy.

Is this a retail or OEM licence?

Is there any way to tell within Windows?

I was led to believe it's the same as the corporate version, as it doesn't require activation.

But that's probably lies.

Yeah XP SP2 off AA required activation here. Licence wise I think its pretty much retail but who cares to be honest.

It does require activation.

Is there a way to tell from within XP? Somewhere in the registry?

Edit: Actually, properties on my computer. Says registered to:
I guess -OEM- will be somewhere in that key if its OEM.

Weird. I don't think i ever (recently) activated mine since I slipstreamed it with sp2.
From northumbria uni in 2001 I think.

the funny thing is that because there are a few versions of xp on msdnaa (here at least), being:
XP
XP SP1
XP SP1a
XP SP2

You get a key for each version, so you have 4 keys anyway.

Haven't checked this for vista...

edit: I have activated every install (xp twice and vista)
