MSI 2016 RMA Experience

Dunno why ocuk didnt just send u a replacement from their stock and for them to sort it with the manufacturer to sort out anything else like restock etc.

I mean if you bought say electric toothbrush (example only) u wouldnt expect say asda to say we will need to rma it to the manufacturer they would just offer to replace or refund. :p

Very silly how rma works as it doesnt matter if manufacturer finds fault or not, if its faulty the retailer selling you it should instantly replace or refund after they get it from posting it to them. They can check themselves if it works or not but that isnt really the point, if it doesnt work "for you" then refund or replace no questions asked.

Edit - You might want to retake that 2nd photo as it shows your private email address.

The way some companies handle RMAS really disappoints me.

They don't replace from their stock because they don't want too... when they really should.

it's like when I fix a phone screen, and that screen has a fault the following week

I can't just tell the customer they will need to let me send off said acreen for replacement to China.... I have to replace it from stock and customers shouldn't have to wait.

I know what you mean - that would be the best option for sure, though in fairness to OCUK it's just not how any of these online retailers work.

At least if your GPU develops a fault within the first 30 days you're entitled to either a full refund or replacement - though it doesn't specify if this replacement is from the manufacturer or from retail stock.

My 390X was originally purchased in July 2015, so still under 1 year old.

As I mentioned above, the only issue I have are the scratches on the backplate on my replacement card. This will for sure decrease the resale value of my card, when the time comes to upgrade to Polaris/Pascal. The card I sent in was pristine, no scratches etc of any kind.

What's EVGA's policy when it comes to replacement cards - are you guaranteed a brand new replacement? Or might you receive a repaired/slightly scratched card as I received from MSI?

No it won't, it's used, you wouldn't get any extra if it didn't have scratches.

Main thing is, you got a fully working replacement without a fuss.:)

Oh, and good job OcUK.

In my experience it will slightly reduce the resale value to some people.

Obviously when I sell the card I'll have to disclose the minor scratches. If I didn't do this, some buyers would leave negative feedback or even reverse the bank transfer/paypal transfer.

Granted, some people won't care about minor scratches, though some people absolutely will.

As I mentioned previously, I'm not blaming OCUK, they did a great job with the RMA and were very accommodating. Bailey even returned my (empty) retail box that I used to send the card back to them, including free postage via DPD.

I'm very happy that the replacement card works perfectly and quite happy with the 3 week turnaround. I read many reports that people have had to wait longer etc.

I agree, OCUK have done a great job on this and although your new card is fully functioning it will have a slightly lower resale value (Nothing detrimental) than a pristene card. Still though, compared to many manufacturers retailers this service is certainly a cut above the rest :)

Not bad for You. My MSI x99 gaming 7 packed up SECOND TIME while on warranty they sent me replacement one after 3 weeks. But without original box accessories IO ports cables NOTHING bare board... Now how will that affect resale.....

I've RMA'd an MSI mobo twice (with ocuk) and both times I got very clear and concise instructions to send back the back board only. It must have been written about 5 times on the various documents.

Same here, was made clear in the RMA email to not include the original retail box/accessories.

I ended up returning my 390X in it's original box. The card is large and heavy, and I wasn't happy wrapping it in bubblewrap or using airbags incase it got damaged during transport.

I simply requested that OCUK return my original retail box and accessories and send the bare card back to MSI. They were happy to do this and I received the box the next day via DPD, free of charge.

Well when i RMA Asus got BRAND NEW box with everything inside. Now I dont even have I/O shield...

just in the process of returning an r9 390x through msi RMA system i've never had much faith in warranties as my past experience has been they find something to allow the warranty to be void reading the previous post seem like most people are getting a good result in all fairness.

guess i will have to wait and see
