MSI 290x Lightning fan problems

I've had this card for about 6 months now, and yesterday out of the blue the small yellow centre fan has started making an awful racket. It sounds like the bearings have totally poo'd themselves.

Has anyone else suffered from this? Can anyone offer any advice as to changing the fan, is it possible to get a fan the correct size etc. Easier to ask on here before I take the card out and disappoint myself.

I've temporarily cured the problem by forcing the fan to 20% on the msi fan controller software. But it still makes some noise intermittently.

Thanks for any help!

Due to the age of the card I'd have to send it back to MSI and that sounds like a world of hurt to me. I'd rather resort to water cooling it than go without a gpu for several weeks. The only thing stopping me from sticking a waterblock on it, is I only recently finished a decent job of an acrylic water loop on my cpu and don't want to have to chuck it all away and start again.

Well that's not the news I was hoping for, I was secretly praying I could just replace the fan with minimal hassle. What I neglected to mention was the card was brought over from America by a friend of mine who works over there. I don't fancy my chances of returning it. At least it was cheap.

Unfortunately they made a different version of their frozer cooler just for the lightning, with a third smaller fan in the middle. This is the little fella that's causing me grief. I'll disconnect it and see how it affects my temps. I've only got a small overclock on it so I'll just pop it back to stock and see how she gets on.

Thanks for the input.
