MSI 290X LIGHTNING!

MSI is slowly preparing R9 290X and GTX 780 Ti Lightning cards. Today I share with you pictures of the first custom R9 290X board. So how do we know it’s R9 290X? Well it has the same memory layout and missing CrossFire fingers. That should be enough for a proof.

Blimey, so 2 x 8pin and 1 x 6pin?

That rules out my power supply straight away.

All that power going in and custom cooling means these are going to bring incredible performance and overclock potential.

I wonder if they are putting 1750Mhz rated IC's on it, if they do... OMG!

Review samples had Samsung, then people started buying cards and finding Elpida.

ah...

If they do put 1750Mhz Memory on them thats 460Mbs bandwidth, which is. A lot.

They know they need to use Samsung with this round. I had a meeting with them about this Wednesday. Some 780 Lightening where infact Samsung too. I had two but sadly they got killed in my luggage to Games Con.

If they do, it would be interesting to see someone hit that 0.5 Terabytes per second on the memory bandwidth.
