Got this card arrived today, plugged it in and its not displaying at all no matter what. Cleared CMOS, reseated, tried with 2 8 pins instead of 3 and nothing is displaying. Lights on the GPU you come on, I hear windows boot, the fans do start (only in gaming mode, assume this is a case of in silent mode they don't kick in until a certain temperature.)

The rest of the PC is as below;

10900k @ Stock
ASUS z490 G-gaming
32gb Crucial Balistix 3200 Mhz
Silverstone Strider Gold 1000W
Samsung G9 (tried in PIP mode as well so its attempting to output in 2560x1440)

3070 FE was in here before and is back in at the moment working fine. Am I missing anything obvious to troubleshoot or is a likely case of DOA and RMA?

Tried switching pcie modes to 3? Not sure if that affects the 4 series, but my 3080 wouldn't display til I changed modes to 3 from auto.

Tried different cables? HDMI instead of DP or vice versa? How up to date is BIOS on the Z490?

Tried differnt cables both HDMI and other DP cables. BIOS I'm actually not sure on how old they but they shouldn't matter for a GPU but I can give it a go.

Not tried this, not sure what it is set to ATM

Is the BIOS up to date on the motherboard? Couldn't get a display on an Asus Z490-e with a 4090. I also changed the PCIe mode as Gerard suggested while using the onboard graphics so not sure if it was the bios update or a setting that I changed or was reset by the update but it booted ok on the next attempt. Was also using a PCIe 3 riser.

Bios update and forcing pcie 3 hasn't worked either. Looking around its likey the 12 pin adapter causing the issue but from what I can see you can't just buy a new one so its a full RMA

I had this too. Had to reinstall my old graphics card and reset the bios to default then fitted new card and used HDMI instead of dp and it worked. Might be worth a try

Not teaching you to suck eggs but did you use DDU to clean out old drivers in safe mode - then reinstall latest drivers? Couldnt see you did the obvious above. Usually summat simple innit!

I have a spare (new) 12 pin cable for this card if you want to give it a try before deciding to go the lengthy rma route? I can ship it out Monday FOC.

So my Suprim X had an issue with this, it eventually would display (it took it's time) but it was a pain for sure. This also included some random Black Screen issues when waking etc.

Annoyingly you need to get the bios updated as @r7slayer has mentioned above. However you'll need to make sure you do this via MSI Center. It will automatically detect and install the new bios and ironically during this process the screen will go black  I think after around 15 minutes I ended up force rebooting the PC and it had installed fine it was just a bizarre process. Since then, I've not had a black screen issue with my 4090 Suprim X.

Yeah I done a DDU and everything

This only works if it can actually boot into windows and display. Mine wasn't.

Thank you for the offer bud. i already managed to get a new 12 pin and that's done the trick. Saves me having to go through the lengthy RMA process.

Glad to hear it's sorted but most have an integrated GPU, and a 10900k does indeed have an iGPU. So just plug into the onboard display IO in instances like this.
Just as a heads up in future.
Unless you meant it's not posting? As in not passing the power on self test?
