OK apart from the stupid DVI issue listed in this thread....

I have a overclocking question, my card boosts to 1202 at stock, which I am lead to believe is quite good. But it isn't having anything more, I have tried with the power limit all the way up and the extra voltage on all three sliders in various positions but no go. it will loop heaven with +15 core but it seems to only boost to 1189 when set like that. then to add to that disappointment it will run with +500 on the memory but again as soon as I add anything above stock it only boosts to 1189.
The highest temperature I have seen is 61c throughout the last few days, so I am at a bit of a loss as to what is better 1189 with the faster memory or just leave it at stock so it boosts to 1202?

Stick with the memory OC as that will net a few more FPS than that core OC. I just tested tombraider with your clocks and the results are below, of course performance can vary from game to game.

680 power edition

1189 core - mem +500 = 82 min fps/100 average fps

1202 core - mem stock = 78 min fps/95 average fps

Sounds like it's already at the maximum it can do if the voltage and power limit is set at the maximum.

1202 stock boost is pretty good. in the brief play with mine I had before I went away, it only boosted to 1150 at stock without messing with anything. Pretty bad/average it would seem.God knows if i can get more out of it. It might be a great overclocker but with a low Kepler boost.

Ah I had the same problem couple months ago every thing was ok boosting up to 1280mhz on overclock and one day bang would not go past 789mhz I was shock at first I did thought I just killed my card.

But the problem was the drivers, did you install the driver out of the box if so get rid and download latest GPU driver and MSI afterburner driver after I did this went away back to normal, the latest msi after burner does have voltage control for better overclocking.

Link for latest Gpu driver from NVidia

Just put what series and what card you have windows version ect download.

I'm using 2.3.1 version.

I have had my MSI 670 PE since jan 2013 and that boosted out box to 1228Mhz and I have had it stable at 1280mhz on core and 3500mhz on memory with + 60 voltage and + 20 memory voltage.

So I did get another MSI 670 PE last week on deal @OCUK and that also does boost to 1226Mhz out box as well which can also do same overclock as my other one so now I have them in SLI at that speed.

I do think you make have a driver problem so try that and let us now and don't worry bout increasing core voltage mine right now is sitting at + 100 tying to see if can do 1300mhz for benchmark :)

Running the 320.49's with the latest beta of afterburner, I will have to try some different drivers.

my memory and core always drop down to 800 or 324mhz while in dayz making the frames drop to 6-10

why does the card not try and run at full core speed? is it doing this for a reason ,

Mine also drops down to 324 ish MHz on idle I think this is just power saving when card not doing much.

Ok so mine is an absolute dog. Stock boost is 1150mhz but if i raise the core offset to just 25 mhz higher it crashes in heaven! That is with the power limit set to 114%

I never get much luck with getting good overclocking cards. Bit annoying seeing people get 1200mhz boost out of the box ( even though there probably isnt a huge difference performance wise in games i guess)

It would seem that without upping the voltage, these cards already go to the maximum they can cope with out of the box....

One thing though, as this is a Power Edition i take it i can over volt it (using an old Afterburner, sounds like Nvidia stopped MSI doing it after 2.2.3)

Will using the triple overvoltage feature damage my card/void the warranty (i will make sure temps are kept in check ofcourse)? I would hope not as it is plastered all over the box!

Hi... no disrespect intended... but I would not describe an 1150 boost as an "absolute dog" myself. These cards from day one appear to have had a boost of between 1150>1200 (anything above this is pretty dam good). Mine (bought when they first came out) does 1163 stock boost (have seen 1178 a couple of times). Just luck of the draw. I would not personally say 1200+ was the norm. Only my personal opinion here (+ based on other forums I frequent... including the MSI one). Though it does sort of "suck" that it wont OC very far (most seem to accept between +50 and +100 on the core speed). :(

As to Afterburner ... yes, the voltage adjustment does work in version 2.2.3 (and only this version as far as I am aware). BUT (there's always a but) ... the way they got it to work is not the greatest. As it wont apply the correct offset to the voltage if you set AB to "apply overclocking at system startup". You need to load the profile each time you start you PC / AB. Have a look at the AB sub-forum over at Guru3D http://forums.guru3d.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55 there are a number of posts about this (and on the MSI user forum).

Still a nice card though :)

I also think the dust removal "technology" (IE. reverse fan spin at start up) works pretty well. Took my card out after some 8 months and not a spot of dust in the cooling fins :)

Yeh the stock boost wasn't getting me down so much, but the fact that overclocking it by only 26mhz causes Heaven to crash to desktop is pretty damn disappointing.

I haven't played with the ram yet so hopefully the ram can take a good overclock.

Its just from most people posting on here after receiving their MSI cards from overclockers, it seems they all stock boost to 1200+

So dissapointed with this card. ASIC quality is 62% and it shows. I bought this because it they are supposedly goood overclockers. Even with +50mv using the triple overvoltage feature, I can't get +100 on the core.....there is no overclocking headroom whatsoever.

Memory I can get to +400 I think but I need to do more stability testing. +500 gave me artifacts.

I suppose if i return this to exchange it for another one under the 14 day satisfaction guarantee, I will have to pay return postage and postage for a new one (can someone at ocuk confirm this if reading?)
