Hi Guys,

Just wanted a to make sure there is nothing else I can do before I ship my 690 off for RMA.

When I install the drivers (from CD or latest) aero is disabled and in device manager I have a exclamation mark next two 690's and if I look at the properties I find this error

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

also when I right click the nvidia icon in the system try and click nvidia control panel I get

You are not currently using a display attached to an nvidia GPU

I'm using a 3930k
16gb
Asus maximus formula 4
corsair 750HX
windows 7 64 bit

just having one let down after another if you know what I mean, Paid for Saturday delivery which I was looking forward to having a play all weekend, but overclockers didn't manage to post the card, but they did refund me for the delivery, but said it will be with me Monday morning before 12, but no card arrived but was defiantly shipped on Monday so it arrived today... and it looks like its DOA :( I Dont mean to go on but I had to save up for this :(

Thanks for any help...

P.S I do have the power connected to the card :)

Try downloading some different drivers and trying them I take it you have your monitor attached to your 690 and not your onboard GPU?

Yes Im using it right now lol, and I believe the x79 doesn't have onboad at all?

I've tried the drivers with the CD tried latest nvidia from the site and latest beta drivers

not luck

Thanks though :)

Did you have another card installed before? Is it a fresh windows install?

Run driver cleaner and delete all the nvidia/amd stuff, restart and when installing the driver select advanced and tick 'perform clean install'

I'll try using a driver cleaner, not tried that.

I had a 550ti installed before, and have tried clicking advanced and clean install but not luck..

dwskillz

Ive been to Advanced>System agent configuration its already set to gen3
but still get the gen2 during boot up

just trying driver cleaner right now..

and borley I dont think I have ever had the correct driver for my monitor, will try that after driver cleaner..

Thanks for all the help guys..

To be honest and as painfully as it is, I would be tempted to do a fresh install of windows. Not normally my advice but it isn't normal problems you are having. Last resort but I would do this before RMA.

It sounds like your problem is driver related, but are you using single link DVI cables?
I got one of the 690's too, but one of my monitors kept being dropped. Plus the performance when Surround works is much less than i was expecting. After googling, I find that dual link DVI cabels are needed and one of mine is a single link DVI cable.

I should be getting a new one tomorrow, and hopefully this will fix it.

You know you can do an in place non destructive reinstall of Windows7 that gives you a clean install but doesn't lose all your software & settings

Works a treat.

On another note, you haven't done anything silly like plug an 8pin CPU power connector into the 8pin pci-e?

Since the monitor is a budget 4 year old im guessing its single link...

VA2010wb viewsonic.. so im pretty sure its single link.

but surely it should still work???
