Hi all

Im new to the forums ive popped on for a bit of advice as my problems driving me up the wall.

I just purchased the MSI ATI Radeon HD 6970 2048MB Twin Frozr III

I was under they impression that this game would run Battlefield 3 in high graphics with ease? But all i seem to get is jerky game play when things start getting graphic I.E large landscapes, Flying , A lot of smoke and effects Ect.

This seems to be the case with other games aswell, Skyrim , Batman:Arkham city. The card gets no Higher than 60c.

I've tried all sorts of graphics settings with and without AA but i don't want to turn to much down not for a £270 card?

Can anyone suggest anything?

Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P (2 PCI, 3 PCI-E x1, 2 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR3 DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394)

CPU Type QuadCore AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition 955, 3569 MHz

Motherboard Chipset AMD 790X, AMD K10

Ram Corsair XMS3 8GB

A quick test is to start a CPU and GPU monitor running, play BF3 for a few minutes and ALT + TAB to desktop to check the results.

If your CPU is at 100% and your GPU is well below 100% in game then you are limited by your CPU.

I have the same card but a 6950 and run it with the shaders unlocked and overclocked to 6970 speeds which should be similar to yours and find BF3 runs at 60fps or more most of the time with all settings on medium / high , POV 90 , 1920 * 1080 resolution and all the fancy filtering etc turned off except AA which is at X8.

A 6970 should romp all those games you mentioned especially games like Skyrim. I would suggest you check CCC and make sure that when the card is under full load the clockrates are ramping up to the quoted speeds because it sounds like you card isn't coming out of it's idle state when it's under load.
