Hi all,

Been having an issue with this card since I got it, is a nice card but when my PC goes sleep I hear the fans keep spinning up and down.

Is quite annoying but I can't find anyone else who has the same issue, doesn't happen when in use.

Anyone heard of this and know of a fix? Have reinstalled the machine since and different drivers but no joy there.

Thanks,
Dean

I have the Asus HD 7850 DirectCU II V2 2048MB and mine also does this when the monitor goes to sleep. Im not sure what it is either but its not really affected it in any way. It overclocks great and iv had it for over a year problem free. I feel it may just be one of those niggles we will just have to live with.
Unless someone can shed some light on it id be interested to hear also?
But i wouldn't worry about it.

Like Rick it's done this ever since I got it and hasn't caused a problem temp or stability wise so don't think it's malware, I have Kaspersky but will run SpyBot just in case.

It's odd as in use it never does this but like you say when the screen powers down, after a few minutes you'll hear it rev up and down, low really loud... just strange.

Mine do it too,no idea why I just set to sleep never and turn off monitor never

It's not malware its just the way the card is,my powercolor 7970 doesn't do it

Seems were not the only ones with this issue.
A little research and i came up with this:

I dont think its cooler related either. Seems to be either a bios fault or something similar, but its definatley AMD in general id say.
It may have something to do with Zerocore technology and overclocking software conflicting possibly?
Who knows!? But it seems to be a common fault.
Im gonna dig deeper see if i can find a post in an obscure part of the tinterweb to shed some light on it. It must be out there somewhere
