MSI 7870 Heat issue!?

Girlfriends new PC is a week old now, and everything has been running great until today I noticed that the fans on the 7870 had ramped up to 100% then after a few mins went back down to 50%

After running GPU-Z for a while, while she gamed noticed that the VRM temps where spiking all over the place.

All week the card has been running 55- 60C while gaming ( In a warm room - females always cold )

The big spikes in the VRM temp are showing 255C etc, so I'm taking this as the reason the fans auto spin up to 100%

Faulty sensor?

Even tho the spikes you see in the VRM temp bars, the big spikes read as 255C?

I'm happy with the other temps.

My temps got really bad as well on my MSI 7870. I ended up getting rid of the card in the end through stuttering and artifacts.
