Hi all hope all is well,

My brother has just purchased an MSI 7950 v2 and straight away i jumped to the chance on testing the temps for him as there have been a faulty batch going around.

I tested his card through 10 mins of a light heaven run and the max core temp was 73c and the vrms reached 80c. Can anyone shed any thoughts on these temps? Because im seeing 7950's with reference coolers not hitting any higher than mid 60's and msi claim these cards are 17c cooler on the box :|

That dont look correct for a stock card, my Overclocked 7950 hits 75c and if I remember never used to pass 60c stock.

My Twin Frozer oc'd to 1000mhz core hits 63c on load, fan speed is at about 55% so yours doesn't sound right. My temps are also in a cramped Lian Li case with 5 case fans, mine is also a v2 btw

Thanks all for the feedback just wanted to 100% make sure I was right as his had it past the two weeks period and ocuk agreed to have it go through rma for a replacement. I don't want to pay the p and p if they turn around and say there was not fault:(

But comparing it to all of your cards there's clearly a fault , even my friends reference cooler is doing better . I will send it off tomorrow and try ask for a gigabyte instead? Don't really fancy touching another msi!

O and just to add it was tested in a 19c cool room :/ and it's not housed in a pillow lol.

My HIS IceQ Boost maxes out in Far Cry 3 after an hour or more at 61C. My case does have good airflow though and that can make a big difference.
