I've previously been running an Athlon II X4 640 / 12Gb Corsair XMS3 / GTX460 / Few HDDs & an SSD on the Gigabyte 880GM-UD2H no problems what so ever.
Picked up the MSI 870A-G54 today, got everything installed and the system powers up.. then nothing. All the fans spin up and the LED's on the board which indicate 4-phase power are on. Nothing shows on the screen.
Just trying removing the CMOS battery and leaving it for awhile now, not sure what else to try! Couple of things that I've noticed is that neither of the case lights are working, neither is the reset switch (as far as I can tell). Nothing from the case speaker either actually! They are all in the correct pins. Also there is an OC Dial button and knob, the light is on on this and doesn't seem to go off when pressed or held down.

Any other ideas of what to try would be great!

Edit : An idea that Ive just read elsewhere is the mounting points in the case, possibly one of those causing it to short? I think I removed all the unused ones...

Hmm, I tend to class a short the board would start then immediately shut down.

I though I ask this just in case, the 4 or 8 pin for CPU power is connected as this does get often missed.

Failing that you could try external to the case and re-try your old board.

Yeah I've reconnected all of the power connectors, still no luck.
What I'm going to do tomorrow is rebuild the entire thing to check for these mounting points and test it with just barebones out of the case on my desk.

Well ive rebuilt the entire thing, exactly the same issues. Tried all of the components on the Gigabyte board and it's booted and running fine. :/ Time to return it?

Now my replacement board is damaged, I've replaced the CPU with a Phenom II X6 1090T and the PSU died.
Replaced that with an OCZ 850W and now tonight I'm just browsing the net and steam, nothing stressful on the PC at all and it powered down and left the power light flashing. Had to reset the CMOS to get it it power on again which was followed by a pop and a bright flash of light. One of the power regulators blown. The system was running at stock too. :(
Two dead in two weeks, think I'll go with the refund this time and get a Gigabyte 970A-UD3 instead!!
