So i have both but i don't get what happens when you use after burner to overclock and then open the gaming app and set that to overclock, does one over right the other?

Also Fortnite the only game I'm really playing at the moment seems to crash after i go above 10 on either the memory clock and core clock my game seems to crash.

but if i leave it at default everything is fine.

Also if i just run gaming app on the OC setting everything is fine.

Basically overclocking this card only seems to work on the gaming app with the preset, when i use after burner it just crashes when i try overclock any higher than 10mhz

I wouldn't mind just using the gaming app on the preset overclock but i hate not having the custom fan curve that after burner has to offer as i don't like how hot my card gets and can't adjust this in gaming app... can i?

Thanks for all the info and help guys

They work fine for me mate. I have had issues with the Gaming app and Project Cars with it causing the game to crash so I had to disable it, but I have no issues using Afterburner to overclock while the Gaming app is running. From my experience Afterburner overwrites the Gaming app.

Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that helps. I personally think the Gaming app is at fault so if I had to live without one it would be that.

I've only got after burner installed atm....

you say it runs fine but do you play fortnite with the afterburner running with it fine?

EVERY single game runs fine apart from fortnite until i restore to default clock settings

Sorry I don't play Fortnite but I have had a similar issue while playing Project cars but closing down the Gaming app worked for me.

Worth bearing in mind that even if you close down the Gaming App the process still runs in Task Manager so I had to manually close down the processes in the task manager.

What version of Afterburner are you using? I'm using V4.4.0.11945

Yeah already tried this other day mate, I know it runs in the background but i just uninstalled it.

Still same issue

I was looking at this part
So, the main issue has been fixed. I can play many of my games and not have any issues. I appreciate the help. However some games still crash on me during the game. The games in question are Ark, PUBG, Rocket League, Fortnite, and RS2: Vietnam.

The one thread I found connecting all of these games is they are running Unreal Engine 4. After some research I found that UE4.14 has a known issue similar to this, and most of these games are running that version. Most of the time the game will just freeze forcing me to end the task. Sometimes the games will quit on their own citing a D3D Device Lost error.

Otherwise I can only suggest perhaps using another oc tool and seeing if the problem is still there, maybe like this one. https://eu.evga.com/precisionx/

I have been having quite some difficulties opening the game after any and all updates. I always have had pretty steady 60 FPS (With the exception of walking into shadowpools, causing me to try to avoid them sadly). However, after any updates to the game (Even this most recent minor patch), the game always completely freezes my computer while still in the loading screen, causing me to be forced to restart the computer. I use MSI Afterburner to control my fan speeds, and also to overclock. However, the last two updates I have come to the realization that I can open the game just fine; it's the fact that if I make any changes whatsoever with MSI Afterburner, Paragon freezes the entire computer. I'm not sure why that is, as I have never had any issue with Afterburner doing this. If it's intentional; what purpose does that serve? If not; please, fix this sometime. It's quite frustrating to have to stay away from the game for days after an update for no apparent reason. (Not sure yet as to why it fixes itself after a few days; it just does.)
