MSI Afterburner 2.2.3 User Defined Fan issues.

I have an MSI 6870 OC. I want to push my clocks from the stock 920 Core / 1050 Memory to 975 / 1175. That's easy enough, I could simply use MSI to do that, or even AMD Catalyst Control Centre.

However, after I clicked "User Define" for Fan control, it popped up but I backed out of it. I tried to go back into it, but stupidly, by design, it thinks I'm simply turning on the user define option. I'm not, I'm wanting to change it.

I can't find a restore defaults button anywhere, an reset does jack. Auto fan control is pretty good, but I'd like to set it slightly more agressive, not something which will kill the fan in a year or 2, but something a little more capable when gaming for many hours on those new clock speeds.

I know I could reinstall MSI but I'd actually like to fix the issue rather than bypass it. I don't want to reinstall MSI everytime I want to change something.

What's the dealio?

Any help?

Thanks in advance.

Nevermind. I found the problem. MSI don't support 1440x900 at 125% DPI. Bit disappointing.

Looks like I have to jump to 1080p. Pff.

The issue was that the settings window wasn't showing, because MSI apparently don't and "never will" support lower resolutions.

I thought 1440x900 was quite a modest resolution.

Might go with Speedfan? Opinions on that?

MSI are a bit daft for that. Why create a very tall options bar and then "refuse" to sort smaller resolutions out? It'd of been much smarter to have a wider settings panel.

Edit: Tried Speedfan, tis ugly and not as straight forward as simply setting a line. Which is the way I like doing it.

The 125% DPI is causing your problem, just checked. I see what you mean now.

I worked out a solution for you:
-When you open settings, keep pressing the tab key until you have the 'cancel' button highlighted.
-Press tab once more
-Press the right arrow key on your keyboard

The tickbox to enable the fan control (if not ticked) should now be visible for you to click. If not, press tab once more and then press space.

Bit of a bodge it, but it works.
