MSI Afterburner "cannot establish connection with the update server"

For as long as I can remember, with all 8 of my computers, most startups I get "cannot establish connection with the update server" from Afterburner. It's done it for years with many versions. What's up?
 
For me this happens when Afterburner starts faster than my pc connects to the internet through my wireless adapter.
To fix it, I just turn off automatic updates in Afterburner/Rivatuner
