Hi chaps,

I would like to get my 5970 running as the same speed as my 5870 (tri-fire) I have installed MSI afterburner but I haven't got a clue on how to get the clock up and what voltage is needed on the 5970 to achieve this.

Can somebody explain in laymans terms on how to get it at 850 core and 1200 memory and at what voltage, does the program need to run in the system tray all the time?

Thanks.

i've got my 5970+5870 running at 950/1200, with a small bump in voltage. it shouldn't be a problem, although if you're on air it might get a little toasty/loud.

there isn't a hard and fast amount you have to increase each setting by, just up the core clock/mem clock until the card causes glitches/crashes, reboot up the voltage a little and see where it gets you

OK i've upped the core and the memory to 850 - 1200 in afterburner but it shows the default clocks in CCC?

Does the afterburner have to run in the background? I have set it to run the overclock when windows starts

Sorry for all the questions but as you can tell I'm still learning.

Edit,

In the guide it states to up the voltage to 1.1165 mV but in the panel it shows the voltages as 1049 (default) and no decimal point?.

well, with my setup, the primary gpu is the only one that clocks down, the others sit at default clocks until a 3d app is started. then they clock up.

this is why having a g-15 showing your speeds when you go into a game is helpful :D
