MSI Afterburner v4.2.0 Released

Just an idea Dave, but maybe just drop down to 1 card for a while? It'll lessen the financial impact and Freesync should take care of any lows nicely imo.

Then jump in with both feet when the next round of cards appear in 7/8 months :)

Cheers Jedi, Something to think about, having some financial troubles of late so would rather just sell the lot if i can, drop back down to 1080P and wait for the new cards to hit, hopefully i'll be back on my feet then.

I'm loving my setup tbh Shanks! Whilst not perfect I love the extra boost I get :D

I feel the extra boost just isn't worth it.. I been using single GPU for while now and even on game like battlefield 4 xfire works perfectly I hardly notice a difference between the two.

Honestly I feel if you not benchmarking or needing high end resolutions it just isn't worth it.

To be fair, what I said to Dave would probably translate to me just as well! Gsync and a single Ti would still be a great combo, I'm just a bit greedy :D ;)

I'd just sell the one card and use the single Fury X with that monitor.

You're taking quite a loss at the prices you've listed.

Probably not Shanks no bud, it's not just that though, it's the whole experience, it's not been an enjoyable one in my case, i'm quite gutted tbh, i've had annoying issues with CF, be that poor CF profiles or lack of any profile at all (Hidden Dangerous, my most played game along with Squad)

The Overclocking is an issue because i like to tinker and try increasing performance, like benchmarking, just not happening with these cards.

As singles they are brilliant though, but i bought into the whole CF and Freesync (which i do think is awesome), spent all my money which i'm by no means rich, I used my injury payout from forces to fund it thinking i'll be set for a good few years.

Just feel like i've been kicked in the balls and lied to if i'm honest.

Just hope i can claw back most of the money and crack on.
Sell one now to get as much of it's value back as you can and keep one for 1440p freesync.

Closed the thread thanks guys,

feeling **** off at the moment with other issues so not the right frame of mind to make a good decision.

Will chill with a brew and have a think.

Just enjoy gaming mate, yes sure some games won't give you boost without crossfire but honestly can you really tell different between single gpu and two?

Am I alone here? I haven't missed crossfire one bit and this is coming from someone who played games that all had great working crossfire..

Edit
Like others have said I think you made the correct choice.

The overclocking doesn't bother me tbh, as they are fast enough at stock, i do feel for all those who bought into the 'Overclockers Dream' though, must be gutting. :(

Also got no problems with Xfire, as don't play all the latest games, what i play, works, well apart from GTA V, and its odd stuttery prob, but it runs superb on a single card, so im not too miffed about that, least i can still play it fine at very high frames, id be well peeved if id had to have dropped loads of settings down etc.... to get it running well on a single, but i don't, same settings as i use for 2x cards, and it still flys, and smooth as hell so.

Same shanks, for the first time in over 5 years I'm on a single card and I couldn't be happier, no more chasing new drivers for one that works with mgpu, no arseing around wondering why something isn't working as I think it should. Hell, I don't even know what driver I'm on atm as it doesn't really matter that much with a single card.

Tbh single fx/980ti + 1440 freesync/gsync is the sweet spot imo.

I will be going back to a single card when the new ones come out though, mainly only went for 2x, as i thought a single wouldn't have been a decent upgrade from my 290X, and id had that that long, i fancied a change.

Yeah.. I just enjoy gaming, instead of messing about..

Another vote for the single GPU here. I had enough with the microstutter on SLI and 1 card might not cope fully with everything at 1440P maxed but bung in G-Sync and in most instances, I can game quite happily with lows of 30 fps and it still feels smooth.

Yeah I get nothing out of this voltage control either, maybe a few MHz over stock - but not even worth it tbh. Shame as there's buttloads of wiggle room in the temperature department.

I'm currently running 4.1.0.7013 on my 290x.

Is there any point in updating if everything is currently doing what I want?

I think I need to just forget about going for a 144Hz monitor and get a 32" 4K screen that has G-Sync/Freesync next year. Pascal/Arctic Islands would be perfect for that :D

Not a bad shout. Wait it out for the 2 to release their 14nm GPUs and see what is what and then grab a nice 4K panel with whatever brand you choose (G/Free). I have been multi GPU for quite a few years and can't see me hurrying back and I am gaming far more now than I have done in years for some reason and really enjoying it.

On a single card with 1440 gsync myself. Last few builds have featured sli, but tbh I was a bit disappointed with performance last time round on 780's. Not gaming much at the moment but for the bit I do a single card at stock is plenty.
