Parts List

Mobo - MSI B450i Gaming Plus AC

CPU - Ryzen 5 3600 & Athlon 200GE

Ram - 2 x 8GB Ballistix 2400mhz

GPU - Gigabyte 2060super

SSD - Crucial P1 NVME 500GB

PSU - Kolink Modular psu 600w

I tried installing my 3600 initially and that didn't work so I requested a cpu from AMD to flash newer bios as I thought this was the issue. Once i received the 200GE the same issue is occurring.

The CPU light on the EZ debug led is flashing white. The CPU fan is running slowly. I've changed between ramsticks one at a time in each slot and still I cant post. I've cleared the CMOS and still nothing has changed.

The CPU does not warm up at all. I've tried a different power supply too and the issue still persists.

Any ideas?

I take it you have tried with everything out and use the hdmi or display port on the board ? and have the 6-8 pin connected from the psu ?
so just cpu 1 stick of ram , no hard drive no gpu see if it will boot to bios using the onboard display port or hdmi

never heard of that power supply might be an issue

I'd bench test it out side of the case. Just the basics 200GE, one RAM module and PSU. Don't connect anything else, no keyboard, no mouse, no SSD.

Yup, brand new build. Tried to post on the mobo box. Did both the GPU outputs and the mobo outputs with the 200GE installed. Made sure that the CPU power is connected correctly.

tried both sticks of ram one at a time in both slots A & B, no GPU, I do have the NVME installed on the back of the mobo, Would that cause the problem? O_o

Yup exactly what I did, and no hope >< what are the chances its a dead mobo?

yes try without nvme thats a hard drive

literally just have cpu and 1 stick of ram

i am having the same issue, i usually build with intel parts but decided to go with AMD for my sons pc i am currently building,

MSI B450i gaming plus AC,
Bios version: 7A40vAB 2019/11/12 (only 1 newer Bios than this, this should accept 3000 series CPU's)
boots fine with Ryzen 3 2200G but wont post with Ryzen 5 3600,
Ram: HyperX HX432C16PB3AK2/16 - 2x8gb 3200mhz DDR4
Tuf gaming LC 120 RGB Liquid Cooler
Power: Silverstone SX 500-G
Storage: Gigabyte 1TB M.2 NVME 2280
GPU: i have tried GTX 1070 & GTX 760

only solution i can find on this issue says to upgrade the Bios but bios is sufficient when i received the board?
i dont know whether to update to latest or backdate to earlier,

i will remove components from the case and do some testing later, but if anyone can see an issue beforehand, would be great,

i did find 1 post where someone had the issue after update from AA to AB firmware, they posted pics eventually to show they got it working but didnt say what they did,

Thanks, i will update if i get it working.

Always a possibility. I assume you've used the BIOS flashback with the correct file name (MSI.rom) and the only file on the USB drive? Using the BIOS from inside the following .zip file?

https://download.msi.com/bos_exe/mb/7A40vAC.zip

EDIT: Or potentially ignore that as I just noticed you are using the older Plus AC board, whihc may not have BIOS flashback. :(

Happy to take a look if you live local to the West Mids. :)

Try the latest bios.

thanks mickyflinn, went with the bios update option with 2200g cpu, after it booted i turned off and changed the cpu for the 3600 and it booted,

its strange how the update for gen3 cpu was earlier than i had, from what i have read online seems you need a gen 1/2 cpu for any bios update to then accept a 3000 series, even if you previously had a gen3 on it,

my problem is solved, i hope you get yours working Mevzx,

Never been able to get it to post so haven't even gotten to the stage of updating the bios. I do live within the West Midlands, would be a great help if you could?

Turns out the problem was an incredibly simple one , A pin on the usb3 header was bent and shorting out the motherboard. Thanks for everyones help and Thank you Journey for the new set of eyes to pick out the incredibly simple fix :D

Just glad the board wasn't utter toast, and you can get the system build finally!

Another successful OCUK community support problem put firmly to bed! :)

Same board with a 3600X. Would only start intermittently when pulling on the USB3 cable. I thought it could be a short and removed the board to test outside the case. I've given up for today but will check the USB3 header tomorrow before I start.

When everything seemed to be running I wasn't able to get a display out from onboard HDMI and DisplayPort and the GPU's outputs. I might have a different issue.
