Hiya new builder here on my 1st build.
Got this lovely motherboard and nearly ready to start, but I have a question about storage.

I originally bought a 1tb WD blue sn550 nvme drive for use as Os and storage drive, but quickly realised I needed a pcie 4.0 to get the best out of it so I've got a 500gb sabrent rocket on the way to use in that primary m. 2 slot.

The question I have then is do I keep the WD drive and put it in the 2nd slot, or would I be better off retuning it and swapping it for a regular ssd for mass storage? Would having both slow them down/cause excessive heat etc?

Hope that makes sense pls forgive me if not I only barely know what I'm doing :)

Thanks in advance

I thought I read somewhere that on this mb there can be an issue with using both and reducing bandwidth, but clearly I have no idea what I'm talking about, so all good! Thanks for the response

The top M.2 slot runs at up to PCIe Gen 4 x4 bandwidth direct from the AMD CPU. The bottom slot runs at up to PCIe Gen 3 x4 bandwidth using lanes from the B550 chipset

Yeah, just put the rocket in the top slot and the WD in the lower slot, job done.

but quickly realised I needed a pcie 4.0 to get the best out of it

You probably won't even notice the difference when all said and done.
