One of the things I like about MSI middle range motherboards, they don't live in the past with silly PCI slots, PCIE all the way happy days.

Gigabyte always stick one or two PCI slots on their boards really annoys me, unless it's the top of the range motherboards.

yea if I had a 2.5slot gpu then I couldn't use my soundcard :|

I have a PCI wireless card on my giga board. I see no reason not to stick a PCI-slot there if the space is there (not a SLI/Xfire-board). Yeah, I could have used a PCIe one, but that's more expensive and not really needed.

USB slots are full as well so that wouldn't do.

Whats RMA like with MSI boards? ive heard in the past people having lots of issues with the various MSI boards, i love the look of these but i would be worried they arent quite as good as say Gigabyte and would be a nightmare with RMA etc

Ive just ordered the ITX one, I noticed afterwards, it says stock overdue. Is that correct?

Itll be here soon :) Not sure how soon but I should imagine within 2 weeks. Keep an eye out as the ETA will change wehn MSI give me an update

Ok no problem, I'll call up and change the delivery address in case it arrives over Christmas.

Holland RMA centre, just process the RMA through the retailer if need be.

I've read through numerous forum posts of people getting their motherboards/graphics cards back within 10 days, upto 25 days, I think that's quite good, it's within 28 days that's the main thing.

I've owned 2 MSI motherboards, and two graphics cards in the last 10 years, I've never had a problem with any of them.

The one thing I like about MSI is they make good affordable motherboards. My MSI Sandy-Bridge board is still going strong !

Is the mini-ITX board likely to come in before January?

And any plans to stock the related MSI 760 Mini if cheaper than Asus's 760 Mini?

I am going to be upgrading in January, and I am was looking at going with the GD65, what does it really have over the other ATX boards that are listed above? Is it worth saving circa £50 and going for the G43? What are the limitations of the 45 compared with the 65? I won't be going crossfire so that is not of any importance.

I'm the opposite, I've had 2 MSI boards in the past and was glad to get rid of them both.
I'm not saying I wouldn't try another, but it depends on the options.
For my Haswell I decided to try something other than an Asus board (I like my Asus boards, but fancied a change, just to see what other manufacturers were like). I was considering the GD45 and GD65 boards before going with the Gigabyte Z87X-OC, largely due to the issues being reported with the MSI boards.

For me MSI are in the same category as EVGA; always tempted by their graphics cards, but always nervous about their motherboards.

Good to hear, MSI still releasing new beta BIOS recently for Z68/Z77 chipsets, least they don't just forget old boards once new chipsets released. :)

What was the last MSI motherboard you had? When MSI first launched UEFI on P67, and revised UEFI on Z68 was quite a lot of niggles, I actually like finding the faults and reporting them, seeing them get fixed.

The MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming has had great reviews virtually on every review site. The MSI Z77 MPower has been a great motherboard for me, I must have gone through over 20+ beta BIOS, never had any issue with it from release.

First motherboard I bought was an Asus in 1998 I like them, it's just the warranty that stops me buying them anymore.

Gigabyte are ever so slow at releasing official BIOS, and the betas usually fix one thing, break another, love the boards though, plus great warranty.

Yeah I agree with you on the EVGA motherboard front, I've been tempted, but seem to have a lot of niggles, they are fairly new to the scene of motherboards.

EVGA seem to produce motherboards for a while then you dont see any boards from them for some time. Had an s775 nforce 680i sli board from EVGA. Was good with dual core cpu's but wouldnt clock quads well, 45nm models didnt work in it at all. Found their supposedly good warranty to be a bit rubbish too.

The warranty on Asus stuff is always a worry, although I've heard that MSI's support isn't what it once was.
Gigabyte might be slow with new BIOSes, but I generally find one that works for me and I'm happy. I'm not a fan of having to tweak my OC settings in the BIOS and then test for stability, so don't enjoy flashing a new BIOS every other week. The BIOS that came on my Z87X-OC didn't support PCI-e 3.0 well though, so had to flash a new BIOS then. But I'll stick with this one until I notice a problem with it. I also like the Gigabyte as it wasn't Red and Black. Now I like Red and Black, but it just seems to be so common now. When it was just ROG it seemed to symbolize something, now every other motherboard is black and red.
I was also not a fan of MSI's inclusion of the Killer NIC card which seemed to be where a lot of the problem came from. Including it seemed like something that could only fail. It either causes problems or at best, doesn't really add anything. Also, Dragons? Really? Is their entire target audience 12-year old boys?
The Gigabyte board also claimed some OC records as I recall. Now I'm not even close to being a the level where I'm looking to be around the world record levels of OC, but I figured the board must be pretty good at OCing and I need all the help I can get.

That was the board I had. Didn't clock my Dual-Core either. It put me off that it was a reference Nvidia board with EVGA stickers on it!
