hi, my pc seems to have died and just trying to work out if its the motherboard or cpu, I've tested with a different known working power supply, removed the ram etc etc, and basically I hit the power button and nothing happens, the power button on the motherboard itself glows yellow when the plug has power, but that's it, pressing it does nothing, I've removed the power to the cpu, and then the cpu itself, and the fans don't turn at all, has the motherboard had it?

i'm used to having fans go on at least even if the cpu is missing or has no power although not sure how this board behaves.

Left out cmos battery for 30mins? Even so the CPU fan should spin atleast, maybe its developed a mb fault?

I have reset the cmos but not left the battery out, will leave it out for an hour and see what happens.

thinking about a gigabyte up4 as a replacement, any reason not to? I've had various issues with the msi even though its deffo done the job. Is there likely to be new boards for IB-E, I have a spare machine to use meantime so would wait a month or two.

you dont need to leave the battery out for 30 minutes or an hour. Simple trick is to unplug your power supply, take out the battery and press and hold the power on button for 5 seconds max.. That should drain any power left in the system. It has worked every time i needed to do a complete reset.

I think MSI do a 3 year warranty? I might hold off on a replacement and see how i get on persuing that route, i'm tempted to get a different mobo anyway and if i get a replacement to sell it. Will see if any manufacturers revise there boards for IB-E which sounds like its coming soon? and if not a gigabyte up4 will be purchased.
