hi I am considering changing the thermal paste on my msi GeForce 680, is the paste already on a good make or would you recommend replacing it, in the past the manufactures tend to use poor quality paste, I have a tiny bit of ic diamond 24 and some prolima tech pk-3, my temps are about 80 deg running splintercell blacklist on ultra settings... which would you recommend thanks...

If your temps are fine, I would just leave the paste as it is. No point potentially voiding your warranty if the temps are satisfactory.

That being said, replacing it with your own will yield a couple of degrees cooler temps, so it's up to you whether it's worth the effort, but 80 degrees really isn't bad at all :)

hi I changed the paste and used ic diamond 24 and my temps have dropped 2 deg to 78 max twice top temp, but mostly at 76 deg and under the rest of the time, just gonna get my fan speed up slightly when playing to help keep it cooler, the fan was only at 53% at 76 deg....

its better to change the paste anyway because over time stock paste dries and cracks causing your chip to have a shorter life span from the increasing heat, id do it for that reason more then a couple Cs less is bonus :D PK3 is the best paste i have used, knocked 9 degrees off a mates 7870 tahiti LE

IMO, it's best to OC first (if desired) and wait for a while to make sure the card is working perfectly before taking the cooler off. Otherwise you've wasted some lovely TIM on a dead card

I went for a gelid icy vision rev 2 vga cooler, and my temps are now under 50 deg on full load, not bad for an air cooler, the fans on it are not pwm so I connected it to my front panel fan controller and I can control the fan speed as the stock speed from the card is a lot faster and louder, I used pk-3 paste as well to get my temps down by nearly half is great and well worth £30 for it....
