Hi Everyone,

Been wanting the MSI GTX 560 for a while to upgrade an XFX Radeon HD 4850 and when I get the money it goes out of stock :L

So my question is how long do these things take to come back into stock?

(Probs not posted into right area)

Thanks
Chris

unknown mate. They are EOL so not in production. There could be stocks floating around but I wouldn't count on it.

What sort of budget were you looking at for a gpu? Prices will be falling on the 570s soon I imagine.

well I've got about £120 - £170 to play with, was looking at that card because I couldn't find any posts anywhere about issues with that card. Had a troublesome past with graphics cards

Do you have an nvidia preference or requirement? (3d vision?) if not you could consider the 7850, as posted above, it's a damn good card for the money. A little over your budget though I think. oooh, not by much.

There's also the release on the nvidia GTX 660 coming *sometime* soon I imagine.

You don't necessarily need to buy the latest gen, it's just that the 560(non-ti version) is not really something I would recommend currently at this price http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-132-MS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1341

There's a sapphire 7850 on this week only at 189.99 I think. £60 more but well worth it imo as the 7850 can be overclocked to match a 580, which is much faster than a 560.

I'm ranting.

What games do you intend to play on it?

I just would like to try an Nvidia card to be honest. See the differences, because the card I have atm is so unreliable and has been from day 1.
Ive got games like Crysis, Just Cause 2, Skyrim, Saints Row 3 and that.

Would the 560Ti series be any better to consider instead of the 560?

The Ti is much better than the non-ti, the ti-448 more so (there's loads of 560 types..)

However I wouldn't go for one at those prices. Honestly It's hard to recommend an nvidia card below high end 600 series atm. AMD has has better offerings for your money in the mid range price bracket imo. The 560ti prices are dangerously close to the 7850. The 1gb memory is really pushing it for games such as skyrim. You can get 2gb 560 tis but they are the same price as 7850s by the looks of things as well as slower, hotter and use more power (i know no one cares.. but it's a fact, lol).

When the 660 launches I might change my tune. Maybe someone else has a different opinion though? TBH I'm not sure what wizardry nvidia are going to pull with the gk104 to make the 660 weaker than the 670, to keep up the 670 hype they are living off, while still maintaining a level of performance to rival the AMDs mid-range.

I sound like a bit of an AMD fanboy in this post, but I have a 580 on my desk and a new 680 in my machine so, dats not the case doods!

What card do you have now and what issues do you get? If buying at ocuk you get 14 days to return it if isn't up to the job.

There are so many variants lol, so confusing. So no on 560's, would it better to wait for the 570 to come down or just save up a lot more for a 6xx?

Atm I have an XFX ATI Radeon HD 4850 XXX Edition and it just doesn't work. Can't handle games without crashing. When it crashes it either a black screen or vertical stripes in one colour all over the screen and the sounds just loops. Force restart every time. Tbh I think anything would be a major upgrade from this card. I did RMA it once but overclockers returned saying there was nothing wrong with it even though there clearly is ><
