I bought a pre owned gaming pc yesterday, i can get a signal to my tv if i connect it directly to my tv however not via my AVR using hdmi. I was doing this for years with my old Nuc6 but this gfx card just wont work.

The gfx card is a Msi mech 5600 xt oc, Avr is Pioneer sclx58, tv Samsung Qn94a. The gfx card is Hdmi 2.0b so could this be the problem as my AVR is 2.0.

Oh and i recently upgraded my hdmi cables to the amazon basics high speed cables.

So guys do you have any idea what my problem could be?

Can't say i know of the solution, but i'd go through the standard process of elimination myself. Try both cables independently, check correct in/out ports on AVR, check correct channel chosen on AVR, check AVR's manual for supported resolutions and refresh rates, and match those in on Display Settings in Windows. Freesync and VRR might need turning off also.

Ask a mod to move to AV forum if no other responses as might be better suited in there.

Thanks for your reply mate. You have made some good practical suggestions and i shall give them a try tomorrow and see how i get on. I will post back with how i get on. ;)

I had a 6600xt that I have to return it would only work with 1 of the 3 monitors in my house.
When I Googled it, it was a common problem

Sorry to hear about this terrible issue. Lets hope i dont have that problem;)

If you've done the firmware updates the SCL58 should have 4k60 support, you just need to switch the HDMI mode:

Turn off the reciever and while holding the enter button, turn it on and you get the setup menu - you should be able to find the HDMI output mode switch, I have a feeling you have to turn Multizone off for it to work!

Thanks for your reply. Yes the previous owner had updated the firmware to support 4k and Atmos. That multi zone has caught me out before as has the speakers A - B button.

With all the messing about it seems to be working now but i have just discovered it does not support HDR as its only Hdmi 2.0 on my Avr. Is it possible to send the audio to my AVR and the video directly to my tv as it supports HDR but my tv does not support all the high quality surround formats. ;)
