Hi

Anybody else have the MSI GS70 and installed windows 7 on it?
I hate the windows 8 that it comes installed with and every time I try to install windows 7 on it I get BSOD.

Anyone have any advice, the laptop is very new so there isn't much about it online. Only thing I can think of is faulty hardware, like the RAM or something, but I hope not since I just bought it.

I have just installed windows 8.1 but i get errors when running some programs. I need it to run 3D modelling programs and things like photoshop, that's why windows 7 is a must for me. I guess I'm going to have to return it if I can't sort it in the next few days.

Are you talking about downgrading? As far as I know Win8 cannot be downgraded to Win7. I think the only option is to buy retail Windows 7 (Not sure if there're any out there though)

Yes I want to erase windows 8 and install win 7, I've installed it plenty of times on other pc's so I know how to do it but it just crashes for some reason. I've read on other forums that people have done it, I thought I would ask here because overclockers have it for sale and maybe some members have done this. I have a windows disk that I've put onto usb because there's no disk drive but I still get no where.
I've been using win 8 today and I don't think I can get used to it, all that tile stuff is just a pain and I don't know where anything is any more, lol.
Might go down the self build route.

PS thanks for the reply's

SORTED IT

Thanks for the help guys. Looking into the UEFI helped.
The problem was when creating the USB I had to move a couple of files around for the pc to recognize the usb properly. Most importantly renaming a boot file and moving it into a new folder.

If anyone has any questions regarding this i will post the links i used from another forum.

THANKS :D

How did You fix the BSOD problem?

I've run into the same issue. I have the same laptop, tried to (I consider it an upgrade) from Windows 8 to 7. I got it to boot from my USB and install while in legacy mode but now I have the blue screen errors. Could you explain how you got around this?
