MSI GT72VR 6RE/forza 7 poor performance

Be interested to here from anyone else with a MSI GT72VR 6RE i7-6700HQ and gtx 1070 running forza 7, had this up and running on my xbox one first and it ran beautifully smooth, so was expecting it to run equally as smooth but with higher detail and aa applied, but it just stutters and stumbles all over the place even lowering the settings, the laptop has up to date drivers and latest windows 10 with game mode enabled, I'd be amazed if the 1070 is the weak link here could the i7-6700HQ be the culprit?thought h the combination would be equally as good as a one x

Will probably try and sell it I can't sort it,

Is it definitely using the max performance power profile?

What resolution are you running? Are the fans ramping up when you launch the game?
