MSI GT80

Hi B0hdi

We can confirm that the GT80 is definately a product that will be hitting the UK shores. It will feature a full Cherry Mechanical Keyboard being a gamer myself makes for a fantastic user exerperience.

Mechanical keyboard is a nice touch but I'm not sure about how it looks and the placement of the trackpad (also functions as a numpad) but then I'm not used to seeing laptops with the keyboard outside of its usual spot.

Its thickness means beefy specs.

Well let's just say it won't be under powered thats for sure ;)

The Spec will be ridic!

Just to add, the spec and the fact that it has a full SteelSeries Cherry mech keyboard...makes this the DADDY of laptops.

P.s - I know this will not be to everyones taste...but when the spec get's released, it will show that we at MSI are always trying to make the most powerful NB possible.

If an image is over 1280X wide then use spoiler tags (like I have just done for you) or re-size to 1280X or less. - stulid.

That for me is a fantastic looking laptop, my P170EM is crying in the corner :)

What year is it? The last time I saw a laptop with mechanical switches it was 1990 something or other. I can't wait for flip phones to make a comeback, only with mechanical switches. Maybe a VT100 terminal for the screen for authentic futuristic Cyberpunk immersion and realism. I have a box of cure all elixir that can be yours for just $50.

I have to admit that this is of interest to me. I fit neatly into that small, but very real, demographic of 30-something year old gamer with kids, who travels a lot with work, spends a lot of time in a second location, and also has no easy place to keep a desktop at home. I've been running a Clevo P150 for the last few years but it's starting to show its age now, and needs replacing.

My aim is to have a machine capable of playing Elite Dangerous in 4K when it's released in December. Right now it's a toss up between a desktop replacement like this (or a dual core 970/980 equivalent), or to go with the Alienware or MSI option of a lower grade laptop with an external graphics card in a caddy.

Right now I'm leaning toward the latter as I tend not to play the graphically demanding games when on the move (more stuff like Civ or FTL), so only really need the major grunt when the machine is hooked up to a large screen monitor back at home. The GT80, however, does look interesting, although it's portability may be a bit of an issue. If it comes with SLI 980Ms and a decent CPU, then I'm definitely interested.

This is exactly the laptop I want to own. I need something I can use on the sofa while mrs watches tv, but I hate normal laptop keyboards.

Can't wait to see final spec and price, hope it comes with a decent screen.

That is one sexy looking beast.

Finally a laptop without the keyboard rammed up it's own backside!! :)

Bye bye useless trackpad, not much use for one in gaming machines anyway imho.

That MSI GT80 looks AMAZING!

Absolutely can't wait to see it in action.

Question for the MSI reps: Typically, how many months does it take for a product to reach the UK after it's been released in the US?

I'm interested in getting a GT72 but ever since GT80 was announced, I have been checking almost every single day for more details on it.

Really hope it comes in an SLI configuration!

The question is will it have the ability to use more than one 330W brick (or come with a larger one) to allow proper overclocking?
