MSI GTX 1080Ti Lightning ?

I know it's still uncertain if there will ever be a Ti version of the 1080, but following my experience with the MSI 980Ti Lightning, I would luv to see a 1080Ti version brought out by MSI

Do we have an MSI rep on these pages who may be able to share their knowledge?

There is no 1080Ti yet, and doubt going to be one. Already TXP is cut down chip not a full blown one like before, and next one looks like is Volta.

The Pascal Titan does rather close the door to a 1080 Ti.

It would be very difficult to fit a 1080 Ti in between the 1080 and Pascal Titan.

Would they reduce the memory from 12gb to 6gb, not likely.

Would they reduce the shaders to barely more than a 1080, again not likely as this would give very poor performance in an expensive card.

Only if prices stay as they are, if1080's got an official price cut from Nvidia in the new year, dropping them down to £500 or so, they could then slot a new1080Ti in the £650-£750 segment.

The 1080Ti will have practically the same performance as the Titan but only come with 8GB of memory.

Not that nVidia has any problem screwing their customers over in that way - I wonder if there was someone who enthusiastically pushed the card that is now the Pascal Titan X as a Titan card and is now feeling a bit silly - nVidia can't even refresh the lineup without pushing a massively cheaper card into the same or similar spot and that isn't going to make you friends with the new Pascal Titan X owners.

People who buy the Titans know the score, they don't worry about the possibility of a Ti coming along at some point.

They're prepared to throw money at Nvidia to have a PC as fast as possible, no matter the cost.

If they're not clued up as to what Nvidia are about, and I honestly can't believe an enthusiast isn't, then that's their fault.

I've done it once, due to the 4k gaming aspect. I believe there will be something in the pipeline by march, nv will suck the money out of us power frame per second hungry people.

NVidia give away money in an unneeded price cut, you can not be serious.

As to memory if the 1080 Ti ever turns up it will have either 6gb or 12gb of VRAM as it will be based on GP102 with 384 bit memory bus. This is another reason why we won't see a 1080 Ti anytime soon. Do you want to buy one with 6gb when you can get an 8gb 1080 ?

There is gonna become a point though where it gets silly if they release a Titan at a very high price and almost immediately follow it with a card of similar spec at substantially lower cost.

I think you may be right - I've no issues with the performance of my 980Ti Lightning.
