When I bought this card a year or so back I didn't think I would need to OC it as it was factory OC'd.

Upon loading MSI Afterburner there is a power limit along with the other clocks.

Power Limit, Core and Mem clock are at the standard 100, 0,0 respectively.

Would I need to increase the power limit before or after adjusting the core or mem in small increments of say 20mhz? Never OC'd before so no idea what steps in Mhz I need to take. Also cannot adjust the voltage as it is not available.

Do it one at a time. First see if you can push it without adding any extra power.
Adjust core first move it up until you start to get artifacts then move it down by 50mhz or until artifacts disappear. Then benchmark it and play games to make sure its stable/check temps.

Then do same with memory. You will then find the upper limit without having to add extra power. On a factory oc'd you may find it wont go much higher. Then benchmark it and play games to make sure its stable/check temps.

If you want to oc further then if you up the core a bit to where you had artifacts then add a bit of power until the artifacts disappear and then benchmark etc.

i eventually got core +60 and mem about +20 with 114% power limit (max i can get) then unique valley froze. Got worried and shut it off. I thought id get a bit higher clock rate?

Hi I have two of these in sli and both of them boosts up to 1228mhz stock and you cant really get more out them, I have had mine at 1290mhz but thats hit and miss if will crash in 3dmark or valley ect.

I have my memory at +500 and my core at +30 and it does run smooth never crashed ever.

Put power limit to 114 and then try memory at +500 with +20 on memory voltage leave core at stock see if stable.

+60 on the core always crashes on me as well and I have notice I get more performance out of the memory than the core.

Yes,o/cing the mem does give the best performance boost, just set the power to max and experiment, also i had mine running with max voltages as these gpus are all voltage locked
mine is maxed out ,i just manually set a fan curve in AB to keep below 70*c
