i have just purchased a msi gtx 980 gamer gpu whic i am trying to get to work with 2 120hz monitors as it was working fine before with my msi gtx 770 lighting but that card had 2 dvi ports while this new card only has 1 dual link dvi port, my question is can i use a DisplayPort (DP) to DVI cable to connect my second monitor ''resolution 1920x1080, 120hz'' to my graphics card, both my monitors only have 1 dvi output each, i may have to send the card back and get a gigabyte instead as that comes with 2 dvi ports :( help is appreciated, thanks in advance

There is a ton of misinformation on the web about these cables, with most people saying they only do 60z. Can always rely on this forum to get the correct answers and straight to the point :) now ot upgrade my 980 for a 980ti or do i got sli with the 980 and sacrifice the extra 2gb of ram which i think would be a bad idea as i m currently running a 1440p monitor and i am thinking of upgrading in the future.

also is an idle temp of 60c high for an msi gtx 980 gaming :/

what i have found out with the card i have is that even when intense gaming only the fan closest to the front ports is spinning up while the other fan does nothing, do i have a faulty card here, and the strange thing is that i have downloaded the msi fan control software and when i open it up then both fans start spiining up properly but as i close down the software it go's back to normal, i have tried setting fan profiles in msi afterburner but that only utilizes 1 of the fans, very confused indeed

*Rainforest link here*

You'll want to remove that link!

And 60c idle is faaar to high! Get the MSI fan thing to open at start up and stay open in the background? That's what i have with mine. Although, AB has the same fan settings.

i have started to use the msi fan software but that's not really the point, you should not have to open up a piece of software to make the card work as it should do, if i did not use the software then the back fan would never spin up ever, that's absolutely ridiculous, is this a bug that msi are aware of as obviously i am not the only 1 with the problem :/ i certainly isn't a feature as why in the right mind would msi allow the back fan to not be used even under full load
