Hi all,

I got the above graphics card for Christmas, but sadly it has been some time since I've done anything with my PC and can't think of where I am going wrong.

Specs are:
1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor
1 x Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 560 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
1 x Crucial RealSSD M4 64GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 600W V2 '80 Plus' Certified Power Supply (CMPSU-600CXV2)
1 x BitFenix Shinobi Gaming Case - Black
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX)
1 x Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (0F10383)
1 x Corsair A50 High-Performance CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366)
1 x Samsung SH-S222AB/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM

Having remove the previous graphics card and switched in the new one the system fails to recognise the new card and just used on-board graphics to display things, not great for gaming...!

What are the obvious steps that I could do to fix this? I've looked at the manual and it has 2 x 3.0 PCI slots and I have tried both of these, the fans will spin on initial power on but then will stop and although it's lit up that's about all it's doing...

Scanning for new hardware shows nothing

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Possible that you need a bios update for the card. Some older boards require an update with newer cards.

A much quicker response than I expected today! Will look into bios updates, but can confirm that both power cables are connected and the fans spin on initial power-up but don't keep going.

Thanks!

believe they only spin up at 50% load after boot.. but as other's have said bio's update will probably be required to get card working

Fixed - somewhere between the bios update and reinstalling drivers seems to have magically make the card appear in hardware and give me a much better performance...

Thanks for your help!
