Hi,
I've recently had to replace the original battery in my trusty old GX660R. It was no-longer charging at all, and seemed dead. I've replaced it with a 3rd party battery of the same model number (BTY-6MD) which has the same capacity and voltage as labeled on the original.
My problem is that if I try to boot up the laptop with the new battery in, but without the mains also attached, the laptop shuts itself down after displaying the bios splash screen. If I plug the mains lead in, it boots up fine. I can also safely remove the power lead once I'm past the initial bios splash screen. It's as if the bios is seeing the 3rd party battery, and refusing to boot when relying on it for power, even though it works fine in windows.
I've tried some googling, but haven't come up with anything that's helped. and I can't see any options in the bios that relate to the battery.
Can anyone make any useful suggestions?
