I have a laptop that I bought one and a half years ago. its a GX660r; the problem is that the laptop is that it is not charging when plugged in. I have contacted overclockers by email and all they gave me was a number to contact msi myself. My question is because its under warranty for 2 years shouldnt I be able to send my laptop to them and see if they can fix it?

I trusted them with my money and all they can do is give me a number to wait hours on the phone for no reason. I'm questioning myself now if I should stay with overclockers or not if this service is going to continue when the products I buy from them have got this problem

iirc OcUK only have to cover the first 12 months (I could be wrong), as you have stated this item has been in yours for 18 months the only course of action you have is to contact MSI.

Warranty Information

Well technically by EU Law, you have to be provided with a 2 year Warranty for electrical goods from the seller, which in this case is OCUK.

trust me iv read about how bad the customer service is. im just going to go for a local repair near wear i live. thnaks man

All MSI gaming laptops have a 2 year warranty, if you have a fault contact MSI and they will arrange a collection and repair assuming you have not damaged it yourself.

Does the power plug wiggle when plugged into the power jack? Does the light on the power brick come on?

I bought mine back in march 2011 from over clockers and it is covered by the two year warranty so I don't see why yours would not be. Interestingly enough I have the exact same problem as yourself. Brick works fine (bought a replacement charger from OCUK just in case) its where it connects into the laptop that has an issue.

So last Wednesday I registered the laptop with MSI and contacted MSI as instructed by OCUK. MSI told me to email there service department with a few details and I would be contacted, 2 hours later I got an email with an RMA number and the following day was rung by the company who were fixing my laptop, it was picked up the following day by DPD as planned.

So it is worth contacting them as I did, I know how you feel, I really couldn't be bothered with the hassle but am really glad I did. Can re post once it is back to let you know how it all went? I mean would be a shame to not get such an expensive and decent laptop fixed under warranty.

the laptop is only under one year. yes MSI did change their warranty to 2 years. To be honest it was my mistake thinking that a laptop company would take care of their small community instead a year and a half later I got screwed over
