MSI GX660R horrible trackpad?

Hi guys,

I took delivery of the GX660R from OCUK yesterday. However, not 5minutes after powering it on, I got bothered by the track pad and the stupid way it does scrolling. It currently defaults to tapping the top right or bottom right to page up and down. I find this uintuitive as every other laptop I have owned lets me scroll by sliding my fingers.

I have tried, in vain, for the last 24 hours to get the trackpad to behave like this. I have read many, many threads and installed numerous drivers, but to no avail. It's a Sentelic trackpad. if that's any help.

Is there a way to enable this functionality? I've only had the laptop a day, so I'm really not pleased with it so far and if this is how the trackpad works, I WILL be returning it immediately, as I just cannot use it like this. I realise that I can just use a mouse, but I actually intend on using the laptop on my er...lap. Plus, I spent quite a bit of money on it, I don't want to have to resort to "workarounds" just to get it to do what a cheap laptop would do.

I apologise if I sound grumpy, its been a disappointing investment and I just want the laptop to work right. Can anyone help?

I think maybe your priorites are a bit messed up here if you are complaning about the trackpad on a gaming grade laptop that is kinda designed to be used with a mouse ?

Personaly I have had not issues using the track pad on the GX740 ( 17 inch version of the gx660 ) that has the same track pad but then I only ever use the track pad when doing light browsing.

The thing is, yes the laptop is a gaming-grade one, however if I ONLY wanted to play games, I'd have bought a games console. Although I do intend to do a lot of gaming, the thing I intend to also do a lot of is things like web browsing and, crucially, game development. I'll be developing some graphical engines for a few personal projects, hence the desire for a machine capable of handling DX11 graphics. In other words - I need a working trackpad, because due to other personal reasons, I work best with the laptop on my...lap. And by working trackpad, I mean it needs to scroll properly as I'll be doing a lot of that. Looks like nobody has been able to come up with a viable solution, so I'll be RMAing it today to return it to OCUK. It's a damn shame.
